We all love to breathe clean fresh and pure air, don’t we? However if you have a heating ,ventilation and air conditioning system (HVAC) installed, care must be taken to maintain it at regular intervals for best results and desired performance. It is not something that you should do daily but yes, it is important to keep track of intervals.
HVAC system comprises of a return duct that collects air form one place, heats it or cools it down and then returns it back through multiple ducts. It provides clean fresh air in return and removes gases and odors. However particles in air are always present, even in the purest form of air in natural environment. These particles have known to increase the risk of many diseases. In HVAC system, these particles start collecting in ducts and areas through which air passes. This causes the particles to accumulate over time, in layers as thick as three inches!
If left unattended this can cause resistance to flow of air and energy costs will automatically go up. Later on these accumulated particles begin to enter the system, contaminating the air returning indoors. This is not only unhealthy but shows poor hygiene too. Not only the ductwork should be cleaned and maintained but also all those parts of HVAC system that are in touch with air. These areas include coils and blower fans.
It depends how frequently you need to get your system cleaned. If you have pets, extensive cooking activities, smokers or you live near by a site of construction then you will have to check frequently whether it is time to ring a professional for help. You might also reconsider sanitizing the system for fungal growths once in a while. For this biocide is used to kill infectants.
